A Wood Thrush Serenade
It is said that the song of the wood thrush is the most beautiful of all the songbirds. I've loved it's song since I was a little girl. I can remember swinging on the tree swing and hearing his lilting, throaty chimes in the treetop far above me.
This morning I got up at daylight, took my first cup of coffee to the porch and was serenaded by a thrush that is spending spring and summer in the woods that surround my home. For half an hour he sang his heart out. It occurred to me that I should record his song for the long winter months when he will be away. When I watched the video I realized I was swinging while listening to him...just as I did when I was a little girl.
